Let's Go Out for a Picnic!

Oh, I think you have been in this situation - you are in perfect, romantic place, you spend wonderful time... but. Here comes the problems. And the main problem is not mosquitoes or other insects, it is your clothing. This one time I had dress which was a little too big for me, and i needed to fix it second after second, so I thought more about my clothing than beautiful time spent there.

Now I am smart, or, at least, I would like to think like that, so before picnic, i think about food, drinks, but, most of all - clothing. IF you spend a lot of time thinking about the problem before the event, you won't loose any of your time when event will be here.

So, here will be my tips and tricks for picnic outfits.This time I won't give you the look, I will give you my 4 or 6 favorite pieces for bottoms, ups and accessories, and in some cases, those pieces should not be mixed, I have warned you. 

Here We Go Again: Bikes and Fashion

It took me some time to get back in form after Latvian national celebration called Jāņi (Jon's day). We celebrate the longest day of the week saying "thank you" to the sun and fire, we sing and we dance, we drink beer and eat cheese. For me, these celebrations did not last for one day, but for four, so, you can imagine...

I feel so guilty about not posting for this long, and I hope, you are still out there, waiting for something new to come up. This article was inspired by lovely ladies from IFB comunity and it tells story about what to wear when you choose to take your bike for a ride.

What happened in London: Men's fashion. London Collections review.

London, Burberry and my boyfriend inspired me to write this small article. I am very chatty if we talk about cosmetics, Latvian brands and dresses, but when it comes to men fashion... it is getting tricky. Spring 2014 was... gorgeous, so I will pull myself together to make a picture for you, my dear readers.

What I was waiting for? Well, all the different polarities of fashion - from street style back to classics. And, it is London - I dare to say it is capital with best taste in men fashion. As long as is it S/S 2014, I was ready to see colors, new solutions in sunglasses and shoes, and of course - new bags. Since this years February, I guess, I have realized how hard it is for a boy to find his perfect bag, and I swear, I will never ever go to a shop together with boy, if he needs bag.

I was really looking forward to see some traditional clothing, because after Spring fashion week I felt that designers are trying so much, to find new solutions, that they forget about old, traditional things what we all loved and wanted to see again and again. Sometimes artist needs to put aside his personal ambitions to make other people happy.

Those last three days were really surprising. Looking on collections made by emerging talents and world-famous brands, I fell in love with UK again.

Three days with beautiful, breath-taking fashion. Here goes my favorites.

It is sunny outside...

I have had a beautiful afternoon spending my time on the beach. As long as I needed to use this time for working with my research paper, this "laying down and doing nothing" was even more enjoyable. Till the very moment when I came home and took a closer look to my legs and arms. First things first - they were incredibly dry and skin looked horrible. And of course, I could see that five minutes more and my shoulders would have been as red as my ZIB* dress.

So, for the first time in my short blogger history, I'm gonna share my views in cosmetics. And again, some short facts about me and cosmetics...

Latvian Brands: 3 wind knots

Before a week I spent some time reading L'Officiel Latvian Edition. You know, those small articles about fashion news in the begging. And I found out about new collection made by Latvian designer Sigita Trukšāne ( yes, the establisher of brand "3 wind knots").

It is no secret, that I really love everything what Lanvin does and it is no secret, that they might be my favorite brand. If we check the short time history of my blog, you can see, that last time, in fashion week I decided to leave Lanvin alone. They were nice, but I felt, that I miss something. This time Alber Elbaz makes my life perfect again and about Lanvin resort he said: “It’s not just about design. It’s about lifestyle, and fitting the needs around the day,”

This collection is a melting pot - in a good way, though. The women, who would wear these clothes might be romantic girl from little town or strong buissnes lady, who spend here day running around, and the only solution for the crisis situation (gym-office-lunch-office-fancy dinner) is Lanvin.

I will carry on with my favorite items of resort 2014.

What I love about this summer....

..... it is transparent bags (clear clutch). It was already last year, when I found perfect Emporio Armani SS 12 collection bag. It was huge, large enough for my school stuff, but the best part was... you could see everything inside your bag. On the cat walk, there was another pistachio green purse inside the huge one, and I fell in love with this combination.

Choosing this type of bag is a huge step. Well, for me it was definitely a hard choice.  It has always been a secret - what is inside your bag, and now, everyone can see it. Suddenly, you must think how your phone number book looks and do you want other people to see, for example, that you are smoking or how expensive is your phone. After choosing this type of bag you have no personal life left. Isn't that challenging? 

Ok, I might have a little bit exaggerated things. You can choose what to show to the world and what stays as your own, personal secret. To hid something, you can do the way Armani has done it - take another bag, or put your phone, cigarettes or love letters in elegant, small sack (i recommend to choose colors like pistachio green, khaki, nude, celery root, peach, creamsicle )

Clear clutch or every tye of clear bag, no matter how huge it is, is not for days when you need to take 100 and more things. It only looks good if you keep it simple - sunglasses, valet, some cosmetics, phone. Check out this fantastic example.

As you can see, style, which goes together with clear clutch, is minimalism. Simple, but classy accessories, geometric forms in blouses and t-shirts, trousers with small ornament or skirts without ornament. Why? Because your clear clutch is point on i, the final touch, and there is no use to make your outfit overdosed.

With clear bags you must remember - contents is  a part of bags design, and you are designer. Think about colors of thing, what you put in, maybe it is worth to hide something in small sack, as I already mentioned? 

Anyway, clear clutch fits to late afternoons, early mornigns and long nights. Choosing colored ones - be careful, some of them look completely ugly, when you put something in them, some of them look like you would have stolen something from your office.

Summer. Baroque summer. [eng]

Baroque summer? Yes, that is the new collection of ZIB, my favorite latvian brand. For those ones, who understand latvian - you should remember my post about ZIB - what is it and what does it eat. Now I want to talk about another thing - why they made my summer awesome.

New collection is wonderful - it looks really stylish, it fits good in urban environment, the fabrics and flower paintings are perfect. Instead of expensive, heavy fabrics, ZIB use paintings, and every one of them is unique.

ZIB dress is perfect for date, festival, garden party, a little evening celebration. It makes you think about butterflies, holidays somewhere in Paris or Rome, this collection is pure celebration.

Why I love ZIB? Because of colors, quality and pricing. If you want to buy something really unique and comfortable at the same time, you don't need to spend thousands for Dior limited edition, you can visit ZIB etsy shop, if you don't live in Latvia, but, if you are in Riga at 8/06/13, don't forget to visit ZIB summer festival. I can guarantee - it will be perfect afternoon for shopping. In this summer fest, ZIB  will  introduce you with their latest collection " Baroque Summer ".  It will be a perfect chance to buy their beautiful items and in the same time listen to great music and spend some time with your friends at club "Piens".

Now, about my favorite items.

I just love red color and non-regular skirts, so, my favorite item is....

... this dress. Skirts are long, and as we remember, long skirts are thing, what we have loved last three summers, and about the painting - i just love the little foxes on the top and flowers. This dress will be the one for my cousins wedding day - i find it really positive.

but, i could not choose one favorite, so, here is dress number two. It goes better for evening events, maybe fancy party in the garden or on the roof? I can imagine myself under stars, with champaigne and this dress.

Iesildīšanās: Velo

Šis ieraksts nav veltīts ne apģērba, ne apaviem. Esmu jūs brīdinājusi.

Nākot pavasarim, man parādās daudzas jaunas apņemšanās. Kā pirmā laikam jāmin šis blogs. Kā otrā - kārtējā diēta, no kuras es droši vien noraušos jau pēc kādas nedēļas (Atkinsa kungs, aizliedzot man ēst visus graudaugus, jums taču bija jāsaprot, ka es nespēšu izturēt). Trešā - es gribēju sākt skriet, bet ceturtā - beidzot pārkrāsot savu fiksīti. Šobrīd viņš ir zilā krāsā, mazliet apdrupis, bet vasarā viņam tiks piemontēts groziņš, zvaniņš un Auseklītis būs sarkanā krāsā ar baltiem latviešu rakstiem.

Apgalvosiet, ka braucot ar velosipēdu nav iespējams izskatīties lieliski? Nepareizi. Zem svārkiem iespējams pavilkt šortus, ja neesi tik drosmīga kā daža laba aktrise, savukārt velosipēdu stils ir pārliecinoši ieņēmis vietu modernajā domāšanā.

Kad apciemoju Amsterdamu, es burtiski iemīlējos velosipēdu novietnēs. Tikpat stilīgas (bet ar krietni mazāku velosipēdu skaitu) atrodamas arī Tartu vecpilsētā, mūzikas ielā. Bet stilīgākie velosipēdisti laikam atrodami Kopenhāgenā (piedodiet, eiropieši, bet dāņu puiši ir visglītākie šajā kontinentā un apvienojumā ar lielisku stila izjūtu viņi nostumj malā pat britus un viņu piemīlīgo akcentu). Kopenhāgena, zaļā pilsēta, kur ātrāk no punkta a līdz b var nonākt ar velosipēdu, nekā sabiedrisko transportu, ir īstā vieta, kur iečekot velosipēdu modi. Bet, ja šajā pavasara brīvdienās Dāniju neesi ieplānojusi apciemot, šeit ir neliela deva iedvesmas:

Laimīgu braukšanu! Tiksimies Rīga ielās. Un varbūt es pat būšu nokrāsojusi savu fiksīti. 

Paris Fashion Week: Valentino details [eng]

Why we loved Valention? How can you possibly not love everything made by Maria Grazia Chiuri and
Pierpaolo Piccioli? Well, but if I must be honest, those were the details this year,which made me love new F13 collection. Use of lace  made collection not as romantic as it could turn out, but strong and flawless. My personal favorites were white lace and pearls collarette, like here:

The same white lace with pearls goes not only for collarates, but on the other sides of simple-shaped dresses. Fake pockets makes me remember old-fashioned school uniforms or french housekeeper uniform, just way more expensive. that dress is not for a housekeeper, that dress is made for confident, rich, cool women, who loves elegance rather than one season style.

Well, but Valentino never goes one road. Yes, they love minimalism (and i love it too), but Valentino knows, that every women secretly wants to be a princess. No, it does not mean, that modern women will wear a dress similar to Disney Cinderella, but it means warm colors, lace, skirts. Lace is what Valentino is really about this year, and, if you think, that lace is old and boring, then stop and think about it again. Brand has found new way how to make lace interesting, and i am buying it, for sure.

What else should be highlighted? Bags, of course, bags. Two way bags, I would love to call it. Half fur, half leather and comfortable handle. The position of it in the very first moment seemed to strange, but now I see it  just genius, and I actually would like to transform some of my old bags in a new way, but later about that.

Well, but Valentino knows what women need, and in this collection we can see not only small-walk-around-town kind of bags, but huge and classy bags where all my life would fit in. Bags are the same as dresses - simple shaped but beautiful in details. Bags share the same ornament as blouses, same huge English lace type, only without pearls. To decorate bags Valentino use texture not colors, which is the perfect solution, because these elegant, fancy bags are good for every costume, what you would like to wear.

All in all, this collection resembles strong personality who still believe in fairytale, but want to see things clearly. We can find lace, leather, fur, flowers, clear lines and amazing colors - everything you would like to see in your own wardrobe.

Kāpēc es iemīlēju Céline skati? Jo uz podija varēja redzēt man tik mīļo minimālismu un kontrastus. Tumši zils un bēšs, balts un melns, mazleit pelēkā, vienkāršas kurpes, taisnstūra veida somas, kas atgādina spilvendrānas. .... es esmu bezpalīdzīga. Es vai nu iemīlu visas un uzreiz, vai nevienu un nekad. Mērens naids pret jēdzienu "kleita" man radās pēc nesekmīgiem devītās klases izlaiduma kleitas meklējumiem, kas beidzās ar... nu, es tās bildes nevienam nerādu. Lai nu kā, manuprāt, mums visām ir pazīstama sajūta, ka tu staigā no veikala uz veikalu, un saproti, ka tev nekas nepatīk, un pamazām rodas sajūta, ka varētu vilkt mugurā kartupeļu maisu.
Lai kā arī tur nebija, ne reizi vien vēlāk domāju, ka labprāt atgrieztos savā devītās klases izlaidumā, tikai nu būtu mazliet gudrāka, jo nu jau ilgāku laiku esmu uz "tu" ar zīmolu ZIB*.

Kamēr pasaule vēl dzīvo Parīzes modes nedēļas noskaņās (par kuru, protams, nevar nerunāt, tādēļ tuvākajā laikā uzrakstīšu nelielu atskatu), laiks palūkoties uz to, kas notiek Latvijā. Līdz ar jaunā "Veto Magazine" iznākšanu nolēmu, ka beidzot ir īstais laiks rakstīt par One Wolf. Kādēļ tikai tagad? Varbūt tāpēc, ka līdz šim es par One Wolf šaubījos - vai viņi pastāvēs ilgāk kā trīs dienas un vai skaistai kolekcijai sekos arī nākamā?
